What I will be wearing in 40 years? (Part 2)

I recently went on a school trip with the school which I am volunteering and supplying at, when I had to dress as a gardener from the Victorian times. The whole trip focused on the students, teachers, and teaching assistants to dress as one of the jobs or roles that the day consisted of, such as; guest, butler, farm hand, kitchen maid, house maid, stable person, and gardener. I had actually participated in this trip when I was a student so it was fun and kind of weird doing it again, though this time as one of the adults! It was a fantastic day for everybody with great laughter, good work and an interesting day of knowledge too. And to make the students have a good giggle at the end, all the staff had to act like turkeys, oh how amusing it was!

Due to my job, my dress included as follows; cap, braces (suspenders for my Canadian friends), shirt, coat, sort of a scarf (to wipe ones brow), corduroy trousers, big socks and boots. Fortunately, the hat in the picture was swapped for a much better one that went well with the gear which was at the school.

So, this time in many years ahead, maybe I will be wearing this gear. Watch this space!

What I will be wearing in 40 years? (Part 1)

So, just being me, I decided to try on a couple of pairs of glasses recently. And they are glasses belonging to my Grandad. He was, and always, is cool with me wearing his glasses, just giving them a go. Thus, here are the pictures, one of which I am amazed and so happy that my gorgeous girlfriend thinks I look good in!

An Interesting Read

I recently finished reading a very interesting book called Frankenstein Galvanized, which includes chapters telling the story by Mary Shelley, and then has a variety of commentaries by many different professors, lecturers, and writers discussing themes of the book as well as other wonderful ideas, comparisons and theories. I highly recommend this book, whether you have read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or not, because I have never read the original and this was an insightful read and a very well written and edited book.

Groovy Van

I was recently in a small market town called Ormskirk with my Grandfather and I noticed this van in the car park where we were. I immediately thought of love and peace and the times of the 1960's! Even though I was not even born then, I still remember seeing old photos and documentaries about that era and I also thought that this was an awesome piece of art as well as a reminder of those 'swinging sixties'. I will be on the lookout for any other planes, trains or automobiles that have a different design and stand out in a great, and in this case, groovy way.

Some New Drinks

There were many drinks that I had to try in Canada and I tried a good amount of them and so I took a few photos of some that stood out to me.

According to Brittany, I had to try root beer because surprisingly to her and her entire family, I had never tried root beer in my entire life. And so, I needed to taste root beer, but not any root beer, A&W root beer! They are known for their root beer and so when they are known for it, it should taste pretty darn good, and it did! It was delicious and lived up to its reputation.

I went out one morning for a drive with Tracey and we stopped off at this place called Booster Juice for a drink for the journey, or as I like to call it, Tracey's Tour Tuesday, it was just the morning, but was a very good tour. Anyway, she was very curious in my decision for a drink in this place which is very healthy by the way. So I chose this green tea mixture, and it is very green as the photo shows, and it was minty and delicious. I chose a small one because I was unsure of if I would like it, fortunately I did. Also, it was a mad choice because Tracey usually purchases this option and all of the family really do not like it, what a pick!

The last drink I am showing is the sweetest drink that I had whilst I was on my visit. There is only one Peter's in the whole world, and it is in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Just by that fact, I needed to go there and experience their famous milkshakes. And not just any milkshake, but my beloved's pick of poison which is a chocolate and raspberry milkshake. It was as sweet as a sugar covered, icing topped cupcake made of honey, jam, chocolate and a sugar base! It was thick as well as sweet, all in all YUMMY!

Lake Moraine and Lake Louise

One of the most memorable sights in Canada is the picturesque lakes of Lake Moraine and Lake Louise. Just the colour of the water is amazing by itself, but when you include the wonderful scenery of the Rockies mountain range and the beautiful blue sky, it is truly a masterpiece. Because of this, I took many photographs of this wonder and so I have added some of the vast amount with this post. It is definitely a recommendation of mine for anybody to go and visit these lakes. Personally, I prefer Lake Moraine because there are less tourists around and so you can fully appreciate the view and the walks around the lake. There is a hotel with Lake Louise whereas there is simply a gift shop to accompany Lake Moraine, which is my preference. Either way, both lakes are sensational sights and a must in my personal opinion in order to see when visiting.

The Beautiful Landscape of Calgary

Calgary has a wonderful landscape and it is very green in different areas which I personally adore because I like to be quite Eco-friendly. There were also some houses that were built high up on hills and so I had to take some photos of this marvel for me. There were some great roads and motorways in the sense that they were surrounded more by greenery than billboards and eye sore things. In addition, it rained very little during my stay and so I had to remember this single day. Here are some of my favourite pictures that I took of the countryside and the landscape of this amazing city;

Wonderful Visit

I recently spent two weeks in Calgary in order to visit my beloved girlfriend and to meet her family and friends. I will be creating some small blog posts due to the awesomeness of the whole experience and the amount of cool stories which I can compile with a variety of pictures from Canada. This is simply an introduction to my small blog posts. I had an amazing time with an amazing family and the most amazing woman in the world in my lovely girlfriend. I have put up a photo of a picture of Downtown Calgary and although I did not live there, it is still the beating heart of Calgary, especially with the Calgary Tower. I am going to live there within a year and it will be my future home, for how long is unknown but certainly for a few years to say the least. Cannot wait for the future. Also, I just want to say that dreams do come true and please believe in yourself because we are all made to do something great, we are all great!

Wimpy Club Sandwich

I recently went to Wimpy, yes that place with those napkins that I talk too much about, and I had my first taste of a club sandwich. It contained egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, a beef burger and a slice of cheese. It was delicious! If you have had any club sandwiches, do not hesitate to get in touch and make it known of the many club sandwiches around the world. Sounds like I am losing it I know but just trying to make a conversation. Here is the picture of the club sandwich;

Another post of yet another Wimpy napkin

Here is the third installment in the napkins of Wimpy. I am not going to blabber on any longer so here is the picture of the new napkin;

My Business Card

I have recently started to advertise for Spanish tutoring lessons. This is my business card but for obvious reasons, I have covered my mobile number, would not be happy with crank calls. I am very happy with the design and £14.99 for 250 of these things is a decent price to say the least. I am hoping to get some reaction and always a nice way to earn some money on the side, especially with my trip to Canada coming up :)

Another Cool Wimpy Napkin

So, as I have published one of these before, it shows that Wimpy not only produce delicious food, but also make awesome napkins with cool messages or quotes. As well as the Smoky BBQ Burger with chips and a Fanta for my drink, this little napkin was quite cool that I saved one in order to take a picture of it. Sad I know! I hope the message is well understood and well thought of by you peeps as much as it was and is by me. Also, go to Wimpy if you can, it is a lovely place with friendly staff and tasty food. I know that I sound like I work for them, I do not, but if I could, it would be great for a bit but I would probably hate the food after a certain amount of time, I could not do it due to this reason.

Cool Wimpy Napkin

I was in a small restaurant called Wimpy, of which I only know exists in the UK, please let me know if it has been seen abroad anywhere! Anyway, there were napkins and this is one which I kept in order to take a photo of and then upload it onto here to share the cool quote. In addition, I think that it is an awesome way to produce quotes via napkins although it is probable that many peeps will not even look at the quote and even consider reading it. I have faith that some peeps will read it and make a note or a take a picture like me. Sad I may be but I thought and still think that it is cool and I hope other people agree with me.

Advert in the local paper

I have recently posted an advert in my local newspaper for Spanish tutor lessons and I will be officially starting my lessons this week! I am quite nervous but excited at the same time, nothing new there then. I have had two call backs in response to my advert and so I am eager to get started. As advised by my beautiful girlfriend, I have had to lesson plan in advance, something which I did take for granted until now. Accommodating to different individuals is quite tough but interesting too. A week from now, I hope to post another entry to tell about my first couple of lessons. I know that I have help and support and I have confidence in myself that it will be a learning experience, hopefully more so for the better. Wish me luck peeps. Have a great week!

Back to the drawing board

So today I started my search for a new job. Even though I am super excited about seeing my darling girlfriend in August for two weeks, I do want to get some more money together for some spends when I arrive. There are some jobs which I am trying to get, mainly tutor and language assistant which are not too bad due to the not too high demand for qualifications in order to do these jobs. However, for other possibilities such as; interpreter, translator and teacher, qualifications are necessary. For me to get said qualifications, it may happen that I will be doing a teaching course come September but never say never about another job introducing itself before September arrives. Watch this space!

A Visit from a Friend

While I was in Spain during my Year Abroad last year, as well as meeting the Canadian who is now my beloved girlfriend, I met one of her friends who I call 'My Second Favourite Canadian' :) Her name is Krista and since coming over to Great Britain to teach in a secondary school in Ipswich, she has wanted to come and visit me in Liverpool. As well as having a good catch up, she wanted to see the city and so I had to try and be a tour guide for a few hours anyway. She is a very independent woman and so she always has a plan and will visit what she wants to, as I found out in both Barcelona and Madrid, one of the reasons she is so cool :)

Anyway, it was great seeing her over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, when I showed her different monuments although my descriptions were not exactly interesting. It was fun but strange trying to describe your city as a tour guide but experience is experience, you never know that one day I may have that job, never say never! Over the Saturday in which we met up, we saw the Albert Dock, Liverpool One, outside the Cavern Club where she got a picture taken with the John Lennon Statue, as well as other things. As a reward, she bought me a hot chocolate from Café Nero, was delicious. As always, it was amazing to see her, have a good natter about stuff and things, and enjoy Liverpool.

My Argentinian Football Team

About 5 years ago, I met an Argentinian woman who was visiting my Sixth Form (Formby) called Cecilia and she invited my Spanish class and myself to start conversation exchanges via email with her students who were studying English. Fortunately, I have continued since 2007 in conversing with some students from Argentina, which has converted itself into Facebook and possibly Skype very soon.

The actual city in Argentina which is interacting with Liverpool is called Rosario, not too far from Buenos Aires. After getting to know a few of the students in the school, one topic that linked us all was football. They knew about Liverpool FC but I did not know about their team, Rosario Central. Since 2008, probably, I have been trying to purchase a Rosario Central shirt. Finally, not too long ago, I found a website selling one and I now have a football shirt from Argentina. It is awesome. As I would say to my peeps in Argentina, 'Vamos Central!'

I Have A Job!

Hello Peeps,

I hope that you are all well and life is good. Believe in yourself and good things will happen.

I have recently been offered a job at a marketing consultants in Liverpool. The interview process was something totally different than the typical process. Instead of just 1 on 1, one of the employers took some of us possible future employees on a train ride to a place called Lea Green and, as well as telling us important information for our later planned interview with one of the top bosses, showed us first hand experience of the job which we would be doing. We knocked on many doors with plenty being slammed in our faces, but it was an interesting experience of which I am intrigued to start. After having lunch and being sent good luck messages by the people, who by now were our mentors, we all had our interviews to decide whether we would be part of the team or be wished all the best in our future endeavors. Fortunately, after what seemed like an hour but was most likely ten minutes, I was offered the job with my palms sweating like the Dickens. After a hand shake and a small punch in the air, I left the building (apologies for the Elvis sounding reference).

It was an amazing day which I will never forget for all the right reasons. I met some very friendly people and gained valuable experience which I will put to the test in the near future.

I begin my venture with the company on June 1st and so I am very eager to start.

I pray for you all who have jobs in enjoying them and those of you who will gain jobs in the future because I believe that everybody has a job for them.

Believe in yourself, because if you do not, nobody else will :)

Job Hunt

Hello Peeps!

So, this is my blog and I am still getting used to it so I do apologize if you think that it is not so good, it might take time.

I am currently finishing my final year of university studying Spanish (Hispanic Studies) at the University of Liverpool and so the job search has been going on for the most part of my final year. Still on the search.

If anybody hears anything about new jobs concerning Spanish in any way, please pass the message on to me.

Take Care Everybody :)
