The Narnia Awards

Back in February, I volunteered as part of the steward team to help produce an event called 'The Narnia Experience'. This 'experience' was a tour of Narnia and also the outside of the wardrobe and even though it was 90 minutes long, it was very entertaining and continuously interesting for the adults and children. It took place in St George's Hall in Liverpool and spanned over two weeks with many children, both in school groups and in family groups, as well as many adults, in families or just with friends and there were many rave reviews afterwards in our comment book. It was an excellent event which both the visitors and the staff enjoyed thoroughly. It was held by a charity called In Another Place and I was informed by it through my Church and am so pleased that I agreed to it because it was something which I will never forget.

In addition to the actual event, there was an awards night named 'The Narnia Awards' which included awards for funniest poses for different things, from shocked to scary, or even a combination of both. It was a fantastic night and everybody looked beautiful and amazing! We also paid tribute to a lovely man called Jimmy who recently passed away and that was a very nice touch too.
A wonderful night with wonderful people!

Beautiful Artwork

As seen on this blog, I enjoy viewing a good work of art or anything artistic that simply stands out to me and makes me want to take a picture of it and put it on this very blog. I am a Christian now, but I was a Catholic for 22 years of my life. Even though I am a Christian and I attend a Christian Church, I do not forget about my Catholic roots and so I also attend my former Catholic Church once a week. Although we do not have mass books within the Christian Church, we do have them in the Catholic Church and once in a while, there are beautiful pieces of art on the covers of these books. So, I recently took a picture of a couple of them which stood out to me not only for the actual artwork, but also for the message and symbolism of what the picture represented.

Great Bag, No Really!

I know this sounds silly, but my brother brought a bag back from his college a few days ago and I could not resist taking a picture of it and both sending it to my girlfriend and posting it here on my blog. I sent it to my girlfriend not only due to the obvious comedy value, well at least in my opinion anyway, but also because she thinks the name 'Bootle' is quite funny. May sound strange to us, but do you think the name 'Shagganappi' is a little bit funny or weird?! By the way, Bootle is a town within Liverpool and Shagganappi is a place in the Calgary area, just in case anybody was wondering.

Anyway, here is the bag and I hope that you thought it was as awesome as I did, in one way or another.

Tender is the Night

Another book review! Apologies if they are boring, I just want to try and give you a sense of what to expect if you were to read any of these books and hopefully give you a good enough insight to motivate you to say yes or no to any of these pieces.

So, I have just finished reading Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald and I really enjoyed it. However, at times it did get quite wordy to me at times, but for the most of it, it was very exciting, interesting and I wanted to continue reading throughout. There are three books within the whole book which makes it very different, because I had never read a book which included separate books within it. There are two real main characters, Dick and Nicole, who have different stories but get married through a very good story. The histories and lives of each character are very intriguing and a joy to read at times. The language used is very eloquent and there is use of the French language, something which I enjoyed but I had the fortune of being able to speak French and so able to translate everything. So, one bad point may be the necessity to have to use Google Translate for a couple of parts of the book. Overall, I would recommend this book to a lot of people, it keeps you interested not only in the characters, but the story as a whole too.

My Top Lookalike

As every one of us has had throughout our lives, somebody will say to you, 'Do you know who you look like?' and, hopefully, say the name of a celebrity or at least somebody you know, rather than 'my uncle' or something along those lines. Recently, I have had a couple more to add to my collection. Now, when I was going through high school, the number one lookalike for me was Will Young, someone who I know at least. Although, my family did not think so and I would say they know my looks better than anyone. So for years, it was Will Young but in the past couple of months, thanks to one television show and a certain footballer playing quite well, two more have come up for comparison. I have spoken to my beloved about this, because if she thinks I look like the person or people in question, then it must be true for me. She would not compare to an ugly person, right?! I'm just joking, we are all beautiful people! Anyway, getting to the point, the two males, thank goodness for that I know, are Gareth Bale and Andrew Buchan. Now I know that most people who may read this, mainly due to their gender, will have at least heard of the first name, although the second name may tender the question, 'Who is he?!'. Well, he is an actor who was in the recently very successful drama series called Broadchurch, alongside David Tennant and Olivia Coleman. According to my darling girlfriend, this is the best comparison yet! So, next to this photo below, I can see the similarity, any thoughts?

Also, who have you been likened to in terms of looks?

Getting Dressed Up/Fancy Dress!

Over the years, I have enjoyed dressing up, not just smart suits and stuff, but fancy dress or costume parties as I believe they are called in my girlfriend's native country of Canada. Due to this enjoyment, I wanted to write a post on getting dressed up, whether it be for style and luxury in a tuxedo, or just for fun in a cowboy costume. In general, dressing up is fun in my opinion and even though the price of dressing up can be costly, once in a while it is a good night out, or day out for some people too. Having a laugh with friends and/or family is great, doing it in fancy dress is even better, well, sometimes. I have put up a few photos of me dressing up in smart attire and just having a giggle with friends when going fancy dress for a night clubbing, a night on the town, a party, or just a good night out! As one of my friends once told me, 'If you ain't laughing, you ain't living'! Always great to smile and have fun! :)
